Caramel and Granola Apples
  • 30 minutes
  • 6 portions


  • 1 cup (250 ml) sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) water
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) 35% cream
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 6 McIntosh apples, unpeeled, washed and dried,
  • 1 cup (250 ml) Peach and Cardamom granola
  • 6 wooden sticks


  1. 1. In a small saucepan, bring the sugar, the corn syrup and the water to a boil. Cook without stirring until caramel becomes a nice dark brown.
  2. 2. Remove from the heat and gradually add cream using a wooden spoon. Add butter and vanilla and bring back to a boil and cook until the mixture reaches 123 °C (254 °F).
  3. 3. Insert the wooden sticks into the top of the apples. Let cool for 10 minutes before dipping the apples in the caramel, and then in the granola.
  4. 4. Let cool down before eating.
